Description

We are seeking a driven and experienced Recruiter to join our team on a temporary basis (6 month term) to support the attraction, engagement, and hiring of top talent across our Heartland Business Unit.

 

Located out of our Calgary office and reporting to our Senior Human Resources Business Partner, Heartland, the successful candidate will manage the full recruitment lifecycle for a variety of technical, operational, engineering, maintenance, and skilled trades positions. The successful candidate will bring strong sourcing and relationship-building skills, a commitment to delivering an exceptional candidate experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, safety-sensitive industrial environment. Key Activities and Responsibilities

•    Manage the full recruitment lifecycle from requisition intake through offer acceptance, post offer testing and onboarding.
•    Partner with hiring managers to understand workforce requirements and develop recruitment strategies.
•    Source qualified candidates through job boards, social media, professional networks, referrals, career fairs, and industry events.
•    Screen resumes, conduct interviews, and coordinate candidate assessments.
•    Facilitate and participate in behavioral and competency-based interviews.
•    Conduct reference checks as required and conduct pre-employment screening requirements including but not limited to criminal background checks, drug & alcohol testing, medical testing, driver’s abstracts. 
•    Prepare and extend employment offers in accordance with company policies and compensation guidelines.
•    Ensure a seamless candidate experience throughout the recruitment process.
•    Collaborate with business leaders to identify current and future talent needs.
•    Develop talent pipelines for critical and hard-to-fill positions.
•    Monitor labor market trends and recruitment metrics to support workforce planning initiatives.
•    Support succession planning and talent management programs.
•    Build strong relationships with hiring managers and business leaders.
•    Provide guidance on recruitment best practices, market trends, and candidate availability.
•    Act as a trusted advisor on recruitment processes and employment legislation.
•    Promote equitable hiring practices and support diversity and inclusion objectives.
•    Ensure recruitment activities align with company values and employment legislation.
•    Maintain accurate candidate records in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
•    Ensure recruitment processes comply with applicable employment standards, privacy legislation, and company policies.
•    Track and report key recruitment metrics including time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, and candidate quality.

Education, Skills and Experience

•    5+ years of full-cycle recruitment experience.
•    Experience recruiting in oil and gas, petrochemical, mining, industrial manufacturing, construction, or heavy industry preferred.
•    Demonstrated experience recruiting for technical, engineering, operations, maintenance, and skilled trades positions.
•    Strong understanding of recruitment techniques and sourcing strategies.
•    Knowledge of employment legislation and human resources best practices.
•    Experience using Applicant Tracking Systems and HRIS platforms.
•    Excellent interviewing, communication, and relationship-building skills.
•    Strong organizational and time management abilities.
•    Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and LinkedIn Recruiter.


Preferred Experience

•    Recruiting for turnaround, shutdown, commissioning, or construction projects.
•    Experience recruiting unionized and non-unionized positions.
•    Familiarity with industrial site access requirements and pre-employment screening programs.
•    Knowledge of safety-sensitive environments within the energy sector.

Hours

Monday – Friday, 40 hour per week.

 

Temporary position for a 6-month term. 

 

Travel to our Heartland Petrochemical Site Complex near Fort Saskatchewan, AB may be required. 

 

As this position is identified as security sensitive, employment of a final candidate will be conditional upon completion of a criminal background check assessment with satisfactory results.
